Nick and the gay-like food blog dream

Well now, apparently I've been getting comments on how prosperous I am when it comes to food. Makan here, makan there, makan everywhere and best of all; still having saving at the end of the month. The secret to doing this is 6 days of Maggi Mee and one day of unnecessary spending on food and nothing else. Today's exploits have brought me to Lynn's Cafe in SS15, Subang Jaya (Naturally because I'm poor as a church mouse to afford a car). Having only had garlic toast and milk tea for breakfast, I was famished before the clock reached 4. Together with Minniesaurus, Moo, Thahira and gay food blogger Nick, we went to check out the relatively new joint in town. It was so good, Nick was inspired to start a joint food blog with me. Gayness +1.

Here goes...

Nick's Lemongrass Chicken that looks like rendang but tastes so much more. Did not really steal a lot of bites from his. According to him, the rice was tasteless. Chicken saved the day. Set came with ice lemon tea, the dish itself and fruits for good measure.
Price : RM7.90

Thahira's Kampung fried rice. Apparently very good for cafe standards. Was too busy eating my own stuff to even try it. I was famished...no...really...look after this for proof.
Price: Can't remember but definitely around the range of Nick's

Myself attacking the Stir fried spaghetti with herbs. Menu said herbs but I got prawns, crabsticks, carrots, capsicums and mushooms on top of the herbs. So good it was gone in 5 minutes. I asked for a supersized one. Set comes with fruits and tea.
Price: RM9.90

Moo's Kerabu fried rice. The rice was Kerabu-ish although not authentic. Sour taste of Kerabu was definitely there. Reminded me of Yong Chow fried rice with a dash of lime. Not that its bad to begin with :)
Price: Too busy spamming spaghetti to think. Less than 10 bucks guaranteed.

This is Thahira's bloody sinful...i repeat...BLOOOOOOOODYYYYYY sinful Hershey's Chocolate Brownies. Remember how brownies always end up tasting like biscuits? This doesn't. Fresh warm brownies topped with Hot Hershey's chocolate syrup with vanilla ice cream to boot. I'd hit it anyday, anytime, anywhere. I wish I took Thahira's pic after she was done. She could muster no words except for the devilish grin of satisfaction...its THAT good I tell you.
Price: RM6.80

Lynn's Cafe sign in the shop. Serves good food with a nice atmosphere to go with it. Has a good selection of classical and jazz music and dim lighting. Perfect for couples and if you do have a large group. There's a table inside that can accomodate 20 odd people. Serves beer if you really need you alcohol fix. Otherwise, just go there for the food. Desserts are highly recommended based on the reputation of the brownies itself. Here's the address :

Lynn's Cafe Enterprise,
6, Jalan SS15/4,
47500 Subang jaya,
Selangor Darul Ehsan.

You should always give a second chance

As serious the title may sound, this has purely to do with food and only food;...yummy food at that :p My destination last night after share group was to be some dai chow(big fry or properly known as cantonese fried) place in downtown KL. The hungry ghosts Kevin, Foong Yee, Theodore and myself rushed through the night's topic out of sheer hunger that even the closing prayer I said that night sounded like saying grace for a meal...malu sial...

Since it was getting late 9.30, we had to choose between dai chow or Carl's Jr in pyramid. We took option number 3 (non existent and based on random banging) Station One Cafe in SS15. My appetite went out the window the minute that place was suggested because of my past experiences there. This time around, the prices have increased and I thought, Oh Shiii...so i went for the cheapest thing I could get. Grilled chicken rice with no drinks. After a round or two of 'chor dai dee' the food arrived. My gosh it looked very presentable with not one grain of rice out of place. I quickly dug in...and had to swear that I was in a different restaurant that night. Very tender chicken with black pepper sauce coupled with a chilli sausage and egg rice for the small price of RM12.50...ok lah, not so small now is it?

The food easily had an improvement five times over the last time and if I could really afford to go again, I would. This time around, the second chance was sort of forced onto me instead of me giving it. Looking forward to more dining experiences with Station One now. Ending this post while slowly slurping the remainder of my Indo Mee on the table. Broke due to last night's moment of indulgence. >.<"

Anger management program

Right then, I don't think I would be mashing my words in such a way that I would sound merciful and indirect. I was back in Ipoh the last weekend for the main purpose of going for the History Makers 7th anniversary celebration. Celebration it was all right; just not for us who came all the way 200km down from the capital. Seriously, formal event with no seating arrangements? Why not rename it as HM 7th anniversary open house then? After securing proper seats twice; yes, TWICE (due to being evicted by persons in charge the first time and turning a deaf ear the second time round)we could get underway enjoying our not so hearty meal(loss of appetite due to events beforehand).

At the end of the day, my wish was simple. To celebrate the 7 wonderful years HM has been around and I daresay I felt immensely proud that we went through all the ups and downs all those years. The theme is still clear in my mind; 'Perfect Grace' but to some of us, it might have turned out to be a perfect disgrace instead. Surely I don't expect to be treated like a VIP just because I haven't been around but shoving us around like sheep being herded straight into the abattoir? That's not how you treat guests my dear committee members. When you organize an event and even if an earthquake happens, always ensure you give the guests a good impression even if it pains you so. You can't please everyone but did you really have to displease us then? As trivial as this matter may be, I really hope they take into consideration our advice to ensure more successful events in future. Had I posted this the night of the event itself, I doubt I could have kept a cool head and lambasted anything and everything wrong about the event.

Right, on a lighter note, was not able to catch up with any of my Ipoh buddies due to the Deepavali celebrations on Monday. I was free on Sunday but turns out the timing was screwed up. So being the yumchar animal that I am, terpaksalah aku menangkap orang-orang KL keluar minum di Ipoh. Its definitely sad when people in your hometown have no time for you. Well, at least they don't blame you for neglecting them instead :p.

God is GREAT, no denying that. He can choose to bless you in multiple times you never dared imagine. This is with regards to my internship applications. When other people can have one choice, I had the liberty of choosing between two companies(Citibank and SP Setia). Furthermore, I could have had a pending interview with DHL Malaysia. My choice for the internship is Citibank. If I told you why, you would have thought of me as a serial slacker who couldn't care less about the job :p

Let's call it a day for now. It does feel good letting off some steam here. Hence the andger management program header :)
